Getting to Know The Upper West Side

The Upper West Side is well known for its beautiful parks, gorgeous views, abundance of cultural offerings and slower pace of life when compared with other New York City neighborhoods.

The UWS is bordered by Central Park to the East and the Hudson River to the West. Neighborhood locals regularly take advantage of easy access to a variety of outdoor activities in both parks.

Manhattan’s Upper West Side is where you’ll find some of New York’s most renowned museums and performing art centers around Lincoln Center. Learn more about renting in the UWS neighborhood.

Attractions on the Upper West Side

The world-famous Lincoln Center is at the center of the UWS cultural scene, and this NYC icon is just minutes from our UWS apartments. This iconic performing arts space is home to the Metropolitan Operathe New York Philharmonicthe New York City Balletthe Juilliard School, and the School of American Ballet.  There’s rarely an off-day at Lincoln Center; on any given day, there are several events to see.

For history buffs, the Upper West Side is home to the famed American Museum of Natural History. Filled with exhibitions of people and animals throughout the ages as well as an IMAX theatre, kids and adults could spend days in the Museum and still not see everything. When you visit, be sure to check out the giant whale, the T-Rex and of course, Hayden Planetarium.

Central Park is filled with anything a city dweller could need to escape: ponds, trails, and even a zoo! Paired with Riverside Park’s tranquil lawns and riverfront space, there are few better ways to experience nature inside New York City.

Just steps away from our Upper West Side apartments, the neighborhood boasts some of the trendiest new eateries in the city, ushering in a new era of great restaurants catering to upscale diners just looking for a quick delicious bite to eat.

UWS eateries range from the pickled, at Jacob’s Pickles on Amsterdam Avenue to the local and sustainable, at Telepan on 69th street. Some of the neighborhood’s notable restaurants include the legendary Boulud Sud across from Lincoln Center on 64th street, Jean-Georges, a French restaurant near Central Park, and Levain Bakery, a local bakery on 74th street.

I had dined at other 5 star establishments, however my experience at Jean Gorges was like no other.  Everything from the service to the quality of food was superb. –
